I've only read one other book in this series, but I liked this one。 No, it's not realistic, and the rhymes aren't perfect。 But it was cute, and my son liked it (especially finding some of the extra details in the illustrations)。 I've only read one other book in this series, but I liked this one。 No, it's not realistic, and the rhymes aren't perfect。 But it was cute, and my son liked it (especially finding some of the extra details in the illustrations)。 。。。more

This is a fun book for very young readers and has nice rhyming text with very colorful pictures。 It also has a surprising ending。

This is a really fun addition to the series。 Some of the rhymes are harsh and throw off the cadence, but the story and the great illustrations will see kids reading these books for years to come。#Wintergames #teamreadnosereindeer +16

Dino catchersCute story about working together when your friends to win a contest。 A lot of problem solving fun and when things don't work out to remember to keep trying and not give up。 Nice moral to the story。 Dino catchersCute story about working together when your friends to win a contest。 A lot of problem solving fun and when things don't work out to remember to keep trying and not give up。 Nice moral to the story。 。。。more

Super fun book for dino loversMy preschooler is so into dinosaurs。 She made me read this book to her over and over again。 She loved all the fun and silly ways the kids try to catch a dino。 She has lots of other fun ideas too on how to catch the t-rex。 Pages are colorful and vibrant。The ending was a bit rushed。

Read this with my kindergarteners。 My kids that were totally into dinosaurs wished we got to see more of it instead of just the tale in almost every scene。 Made you wonder if they were ever going to catch it。

Not too impressed with this one。 The idea behind it is fun enough-a boy wants to win first prize at the science fair and thinks catching a dinosaur would be his best chance。 His friends help him set traps but each fails。 In the end their traps help them win the science fair and the dinosaur is seen in its dwelling under the school。 They did mention connections to some of the descendants of dinosaurs such as birds and sharks, and I think that would’ve been a more interesting and valuable directio Not too impressed with this one。 The idea behind it is fun enough-a boy wants to win first prize at the science fair and thinks catching a dinosaur would be his best chance。 His friends help him set traps but each fails。 In the end their traps help them win the science fair and the dinosaur is seen in its dwelling under the school。 They did mention connections to some of the descendants of dinosaurs such as birds and sharks, and I think that would’ve been a more interesting and valuable direction to spin the “catching a dinosaur” and science fair theme。 Maybe they could’ve caught creatures today who have been around as long as dinosaurs/are directly related such as dragonflies, birds, reptiles, etc。 Aside from that, I thought the rhyme scheme wasn’t great, nor were the illustrations。 。。。more

Review originally posted on my blog, Nine Pages。This is the fourth book that I’ve read from this series。 This one is about a boy who hopes to win a school science fair by catching a dinosaur。 Though ultimately unsuccessful in his hunt, his contraptions for catching the dino do snag him the trophy。 I was pleasantly surprised by the modern dino facts that this book alludes to: that some dinos had feathers, that dinos are nearer to birds than other living creatures。 In this particularly the “be Review originally posted on my blog, Nine Pages。This is the fourth book that I’ve read from this series。 This one is about a boy who hopes to win a school science fair by catching a dinosaur。 Though ultimately unsuccessful in his hunt, his contraptions for catching the dino do snag him the trophy。 I was pleasantly surprised by the modern dino facts that this book alludes to: that some dinos had feathers, that dinos are nearer to birds than other living creatures。 In this particularly the “better luck next time” refrain that ends of each of the the books in this series is jarring because the narration and the perspective changes from the children to the dino for this last line。 。。。more

We have read several books in this series and I don’t really feel like they were trying with this one。 The traps were pretty simple, but they also ended up in the Science fair。 It’s never explained why dinosaurs are around accept that sharks and alligators are from that time so dinosaurs should be around too。 The premise is the same, kids setting up traps to catch a dinosaur。 We see trap after trap evaded page after page。 It’s a fine story with good rhyming text。 Maybe the freshness is wearing o We have read several books in this series and I don’t really feel like they were trying with this one。 The traps were pretty simple, but they also ended up in the Science fair。 It’s never explained why dinosaurs are around accept that sharks and alligators are from that time so dinosaurs should be around too。 The premise is the same, kids setting up traps to catch a dinosaur。 We see trap after trap evaded page after page。 It’s a fine story with good rhyming text。 Maybe the freshness is wearing off for me。 The nephew loved this story。 He loved seeing the dinosaur living under the school at the end。 He did say he could come up with better traps than those kids did。 He began planning in his head what to do。 He thinks he can do anything。 He gave this 4 stars。 。。。more

Can 4 kids attempt to catch a dinosaur for the school science fair? What if they fail? Or will they? Very clever, imaginative ideas and wonderfully told and illustrated by Adam Wallace。 The "How to Catch a" series by Wallace is a GREAT way to offer ideas for kids for creative thinking, instill a love of invention/imagination, and are a great read aloud series for Storytime or Bedtime。 Can 4 kids attempt to catch a dinosaur for the school science fair? Really liked this book, particularly how the mom is an engineer and the kids design all these gadgets to catch the dinosaur。 Also liked the ending。

A rhyming picture book where kids try to set traps to catch a dinosaur, and keep missing it。 This book is very similar to the dragon and unicorn books in the same series。
